Amazing cosplay’s at brony fan fair
The Rarity with the white shawl and the Great and powerful Trixie is me!
That Fluttershy, her outfit was AMAZING up close, steel busking in the back and beautiful lacing all the way up the back. I’m really sad her and her friend didn’t win something in the cosplay show.
Terrible quality because I forgot my camera at home. Enjoy the bad camera that is my phone…at any rate, I had a good time at Brony Fan Fair. It was small compared to the other cons I’ve visited which is good in a way. Less travel time to get to each location meaning I was able to reach every panel I wanted to see. Got some pony swag, though not much. I’m mostly spent at the moment.
I plan on going to Nightmare Nights in Dallas Texas in November.
Silver Spoon - She had a cute costume. Nuff said.
Rarity - There were more rarities than I expected to see. This is, of course, a good thing, because Rarity is best pony. There were also a lot of Rainbow Dashes, but no one cares about that.
Pony Joe - Everyone wanted to eat his masterpiece. Can you blame them? It’s made of real donuts.
Granny Smith - There’s something about elderly people cosplaying that gives me the warm fuzzies. She had a great costume.
Nightmare Moon & Luna - They were so adorable together. There were a lot of children at the con that simply made me dawww.
Dead Mau5 - Every convention has a Dead Mou5 cosplayer. This is the conclusion I’ve made because it seems to be true.
Black and White - Nothing more than two dudes in white and black suites(respectively) with twilight masks. This is something I’ve been wanting to do with my brother. Wear invertive outfits together. Being twins I think it would be cool. That or I want to dress as the spa twins because Flim and Flam can go fuck themselves.
Twist - Sheth tho prethiouth. Gotta give the Twist some love.
Can we please talk about Joe’s Donutopia? It looked AMAZING! <3 <3
Also that Granny smith blew my mind!
Thanks for the pictures~ <3
Dark Trixie test. Pleas excuse that I only have make up on ONE side of my face. I usually only do one when I’m doing a test, and it happened to be on the side the wig covered entirely! >.<
You can see the new make up style I tried this time I like it much better but I’m not sure I’m committed to it. Input is much appreciated.
Next is donut Joe’s Jacket and apron. Please not the dress form is a0 a woman’s body and b) much smaller than the person who is going to wear this costume!
I also made the hat but it’s not pictured. I really need to press these still but I’ll likely do it at the hotel tomorrow night.
And finally Spike’s jacket is finished off with a collar and that costume is complete too.
Somehow I did it with plenty of extra time despite not working the last two days on anything at all. (I seriously made the entire Joe costume TODAY)
And with the skit finished all I have to do is pack now!
Today I spent most of the day with my husband becasue I got a new (to me) car! The best damn convention/ren fair/larp mobile 4000 bucks can buy (and a haunted radio to boot)! And though it was good it really cut into my work time >.<
However Joe came over with the complete base for Donutopia! We did all the tasty research and tomorrow hes building the toppers for it! I also draft the patterns for his chef coat as well!
My Trixie Wig and shoes both came into today and I wouldn’t be happier! So here are some fully dressed pictures of my newly revamped Trixie Lulamoon (yes I am doing both Trixie versions at the con! yeah)
The Wig is a Candy Striper from Arda wigs and the shoes I got on ebay from http://www.ebay.com/usr/kellinix (which by the way I ordered on Friday night, and they arrive MONDAY, even tho the estimated arrival date was Wednesday. This seller is SO on her game!) they’re really nice quality too!
We spent a few hours working on the song for our skit. If we can’t get it recorded tomorrow then it’s not going to happen and we’re just going to walk on. :( We’re both really scared about singing this parody ourselves, so if it’s to awful then we’ll ditch it. I hate that I let us wait this long to make a decision on our skit. >.>//
Can’t wait to see your guys this weekend!
Most of today’s progress!
We went shopping today for fabric, so I got right to work when we got home! Joe also finished cutting and tooling my leather Alicorn amulet (gem not shown in either picture >.< doh!) Then I painted it with acrylic. It got a high glood clear coat along with the gem (also not shown, they are drying now) tomarrow I’ll contact cement them together and put on the brooch back!
I started on Spikes Spines yesterday, and after like a billion coat of paint, I put them together today, however I didn’t get any pictures of the finished product yet, you’ll have to wait for the full costume test on Wednesday or Thursday.
Carrying on, I started to work on the spike jacket. We’re going for a sort of greaser feel to go with my rarity which has a very swing skirt feel to it. I was thinking very up town girl rarity, down town boy Spike. lightly inspired by Grease and Happy days, and all that. The ‘Swaggin Dragons’ ‘gang’ name came becasue the one of the original reason Jay thought to do Spike was becasue of the song: swaggin dragon(warning they cuss in this song… ALOT), so I though It would be a funny nod to that. Also used a dragon pattern I got from urban threads a year or so back and put that on there as well. The based god smiled on me and my embroidery machine didn’t mess up once either time! Whee! I couldn’t resist putting my little signature detailing on the pocket either! What can I say, I’m a designer at heart! <3 and a lime green zipper!
Last is my NEW Trixie skirt. I’ll be using the same hat, cape and vest from before, but I never really liked my old skirt much so I made a new one. This is for sat night regular Trixie. ^^ This outfit is going to be so glitzy! <3 Must not forget my rhinestones! <3
Time for bed for me, but more tomarrow and I can’t wait to see you all this weekend!
Brony Fan Fair Progress!
Trixie wand made. I usually do this stuff way more high tech than this, but I went cardboard and tape route this time. Then spray primer, spray silver, then adhesive and glitter, then three coats of sealant before being carefully wrapped in a layer of high quality clear packing tape and attacked to the handle.
Did some make up test for the ‘evil magic’ look for Dark Trixie, but I’m not really happy with either of them. :/ gotta keep trying I guess.
The last is a teaser picture of the dark Trixie! Now to finish my amulet, fix my shoe, and wait for my wig to come in! <3 <3
